Inside the State of the Digital Economy Conference 2026

The State of the Digital Economy Conference 2026 brought industry leaders, policymakers, technologists, educators, and young builders together at Next Media Park to explore what Uganda needs from its next phase of digital growth.

Conversations moved across five connected priorities: human capital, policy, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The conference placed practical participation alongside debate, including a live coding challenge where teams developed solutions around public services and accountability.

Refactory Academy joined Next Media and NextCom as a partner, bringing a clear message about skills and access: Africa’s digital opportunity depends on giving more young people the tools to build, not only consume, technology.

SODE continues NextCom’s approach to special projects—creating platforms where institutions, experts, and emerging talent can meet around ideas with national relevance.
