Be A Cyber Hero: Building Safer Digital Spaces for Uganda’s Children
14 Aug 2026
On 13 August 2026, NextCom and the Uganda Communications Commission launched Be A Cyber Hero at Next Media Park—a three-year national initiative focused on safer, more responsible digital spaces for children and young people.
The campaign will use television, radio, digital platforms, school engagements, expert conversations, and real-life stories to help children, parents, teachers, and communities recognise online risks. Its focus includes cyberbullying, harmful content, scams, online exploitation, and other threats that increasingly follow young people into connected spaces.
Next Media’s reach gives the initiative a route into homes and communities across Uganda, while UCC contributes regulatory experience and years of child-online-protection outreach. The work is designed to turn awareness into practical action: recognise harm, report it, support those affected, and make responsible digital behaviour part of everyday life.
For NextCom, this is communication doing more than creating visibility. It is a long-term public-interest campaign built to move knowledge through the platforms audiences already trust.
