On #WorldDollarDay, we run two polls on dollars to ascertain if Ugandans use dollars. Of the 164 that voted, 64.6% have ever used/touched dollars. 257 participated in another poll asking whether they have a dollar account, an overwhelming 82.1% said they don’t have a dollar account.
Ugandans pre-dominantly use the Ugandan shillings for their daily transactions much as in the recent times, as a result of e-commerce and foreign trade the use of dollars in catching up. Also, there are some houses in the country that are rented in dollars.
