Nile Nest Resort, in Jinja, was quite the place to be on Saturday, June 4, for those who wanted to wrap up a long weekend with bliss, pomp, and entertainment.
The venue was this year’s destination for the Vumbula Jinja, an annual event that seeks to unearth Uganda’s beauty, but with a touch of music, performances by artistes and fashion.
Hundreds of partygoers and tourism enthusiasts thronged Uganda Museum parking lot, where a number of buses awaited them for transport to Jinja and got many comparing it to Nyege Nyege Festival. All you needed was to buy a ticket of either sh50,000 or sh300,000, and transport would not be part of your worries.
Those who dug their pockets deeper for a sh300,000 ticket indeed experienced the marvel that is Jinja.
After performances from home-baked artistes, Abeeka Band put up quite a live band showcase, which, to many, was the highlight of the event.
To others, however, Kampala-based musicians like Aziz Azion and Anknown brought their A-game, closing the night in unforgettable style.
As these performed, a host of excited guests were busy trying dance challenges in the crowd, while many sang along to almost all of Azion’s songs
With the venue’s strategic location just by the banks of River Nile, the festival was such an enthralling one.
At Next Com, it was all hands on deck as the team made it impossible for those that didn’t make it to Jinja not to notice what they were missing. The online execution was excellent, the pictures were top notch and the event ruled the online space whole weekend.
